It's not like she's really thought it had for a long time now, not since that night in the funeral home, but hearing him say it still makes her smile. It feels like something significant in its way, too, admitting to something that's maybe been here longer than either of them had allowed themselves to realize. Somehow that feels really important to her. She meant what she'd said on his birthday, that she had been afraid to tell him how she felt because he's her best friend, because the thought of not having him at all is worse than the thought of never having him like this.
"Good thing it doesn't, since you got me a piano," she says with a little smile. "If it annoyed you, that'd just be askin' for trouble."
She closes her eyes, her cheek against his shoulder, then says, "You make me real happy, Daryl. When I was... before, when I went to the store and freaked out, when I was nervous about everything, that's what Pepper said to me. And Olive. That all I really gotta think about is if you make me happy and the rest would just work itself out."
