It startles her and for an insane second she thinks it should hurt when the flashlight connects with her temple. Not her temple, though, that awful, other version of her. They're not connected, they're not the same, but she still expects pain to blossom across her head, she still expects her vision to waver and when it doesn't, when she realizes it's not her who's gone down, she seizes Blue's hand in hers and turns to run. She has no idea where she's going, but Blue can lead her.
All Beth knows is that she needs to feel the warmth of someone beside her, someone alive, someone who's just now saved her.
None of this makes sense. The events of the past few minutes are whirling around in her mind as she runs and she thinks she could run forever. Even in this ash, even inhaling it deeply into her lungs and coughing and spitting up black, she thinks she'd be able to never stop running so long as she can leave all this behind.
