If Daryl asks where she's been, she's just going to tell him she took the long way home from work so she could get a bit of fresh air. It's not entirely a lie, after all, she is going the long way home, but it's not really about fresh air. She's not exactly out looking for trouble either, but given what she and Kili have talked about over the past few weeks, she's also not entirely unaware of what's going on around her. She's keeping her eyes open. And if she's wearing her knife and got a stake hidden in her bag, then that's just for protection.

She's not actively seeking a fight. That has to count for something.

That doesn't mean she's going to get home and tell Daryl what she's been doing, but it makes her feel a little less guilty about not telling him anyway. Which she realizes isn't fair and she hates that she's keeping something like this from him, but she doesn't know what else to do at this point. She knows he won't like it and she also doesn't think she'll stop doing it just because he doesn't want her in danger. Everything is dangerous.

She's walking down a quiet street, moving in the direction of home when she hears it. A soft scuffling in the alley, the gentle sound of glass being very carefully broken.

Beth frowns, then moves quietly in that direction, her hand falling to the hilt of her knife. This might be a bad idea and she doesn't know what she's going to do once she sees what's going on, but she can't just leave. It isn't until she gets deeper into the alley and rounds the corner to the back of a small house that she realizes what's going on and her hand drops from her knife as she stares incredulously.

"Peter?" she asks, her voice tinged with disbelief. "What the hell're you doin'?"
