There are days when Beth realizes she hasn't seen one of her friends in a little while. She's busy in Darrow, between work and school and playing shows -- actual shows now, in bars more often than in the park -- and helping Carl with Judith so he can have time to do his own homework, too. It's a busy life, one she wouldn't trade for the world, but it does mean she doesn't see some people as often as she'd like. She makes time for Kili whenever she can, but he's practically family, and it's awhile before she realizes she hasn't run into Noah for a little bit.
So she texts him, first just to check in and make sure he's doing okay. Breakups aren't easy, she knows that even though she's really only been through one herself, and she thinks they might be especially hard when there's really no one to blame. Noah had seemed sad the last time she had seen him, but not angry.
Once she's sure he's doing alright, she asks if he wants to meet up, maybe go for coffee or something, and that's how she's found herself waiting outside one of the cute little cafes near the park. The air is heavy and warm and it's definitely officially summer now, but she loves this weather. It's different from Georgia, not nearly as humid, not quite as hot, and she leans against a bench as she waits for Noah, humming softly under her breath.
